Cement Poem

I don't know who I am.
I can't hear any more.
Everything's blurry.
I don't recognize anyone.
I'm not here for anything.
I killed the Buddha, all right.
Went in the closet and slammed the door.
Hi ya Barry--what's with the purple lips?
I digress.
Burning jet fuel does not melt steel.
I digress.
Art?
I digress.
OK, I'm still here.
Where's that guy with the pitcher?
I'll see you over his house in the attic.

Waiting.  Waiting.  Waiting.
I digress.
God it's junkie in here.
Way too much furniture.
I digress.

Jesus with the Gandarva music.

Steven W. Dunn has left a new comment on your post "Cement Poem":

William, you are posting! This image is beautiful! I too am curious about the medium(mediums?).

Your verse confuses and causes me concern.

Stay with us and keep posting.

HI Steven--I'm an idiot. I hit the wrong button and wiped out your comment. Here it is reposted from the email version.

Anyway, thanks for visiting. The medium comes out of my disrespect for "art materials". It consists of all kinds of mixtures of Grouts, spackling powders, paint bases, Elmers, cheap acrylic project paints, etc. This piece kind of grew on its own with practically no interference on my part. Working this way somehow seems healthy.

As for the poem, I'd be interested in hearing more of your thoughts about it.

All the best!

I visited earlier but, like Steven, I was confused--even googled Gandarva music but didn't listen in case it's catching. Nice spackling; actually nice art. It's good to see a post from you.

Hi Hallie--I am so happy to hear from you! Thanks for stopping by!

That poem just came about as an expression of the frustration I've been feeling over meditating. They say you have to shut out all the activity of the lower mind--down to complete profound silence. My brain just keeps going on and on. Yet as Jesus says, find the man with the pitcher, follow him to his house and go to the upper room--which is furnished--and wait for me there. In other words get to the higher mind, and take nothing from the lower mind with you--everything you need is already there. And wait. I've done this many times. They say that when one reaches these states of silence one begins to hear the music of the Gandarvas--angels sort of, that accompany enlightenment--the Christ state.

I'm afraid I wouldn't know Gandarva music if I fell over it. But, is that what I hear? Or is it just more stuff junking things up? And what are all the purple blobs? Its all so entertaining.

Arcombus is the one you really need to worry about--him and Cheryl Crowe, who kept singing, "All I wanna do is have some fun".
Hence the painting.

Best.

Hi again William
I see no disrespect of mediums here-just a very clever use of what may be "at hand" to create something very beautiful. Art is creativity. Creativity is art.

Meditation: As we quiet ourselves thoughts (some very bazaar) float in and out; yes, maybe music too. It is sometimes challenging to relax into the "now" in order to know the "eternal". Let's embrace the "now" and know that we are here for JOY, THE RIDE, THE EXHILARATION. We create our own reality and on a good day enjoy floating down stream with the tide of life.
That's my two cents.

Thanks Steven--Your messages have been very encouraging to me--especially this one. I like the idea of relaxing into the now to get at the eternal. Nice one. And it occurs to me that this is where art happens too. Past and future concerns are so caustic. I'll take joy, exhilaration and floating any day. I'm stapling this to my head so I don't forget. Thanks again.
